Religious Curriculum

The religious education program at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School is both academic and social.

We strive not only to have our students aware of the tenets of the Catholic faith, we encourage them to love that faith in their lives and in the community. All members of the school faculty and administrative staff BELIEVE the structure of our religious program allows our students to grow as individuals, realizing their full potential while practicing strong morals in their behavior and decisions. At Blessed Sacrament Catholic School we BELIEVE these ideals are so important to our students’ education that we have a full-time director for our religion program in place.
Religious Programs

INSTRUCTION IN THE CATHOLIC FAITH: Each grade level is given appropriate instructions in the basic tenets of the Catholic faith. Instruction is made utilizing traditional academic methods, through films and through weekly classroom visits made by parish priests.

MISSION AND VALUES: each month missions are collected by all of the classes in the school. A specific charity is always highlighted each month. The missions enable us ti give our students the opportunity to learn the importance of sacrifice and helping those less fortunate in our society.

RELIGIOUS SACRAMENTS AND SERVICES: Each month students are taken to First Friday Mass to instill in them the importance of attending Mass as a community. This allows students to receive Holy Communion and strengthen their sacramental participation. Students also attend Mass on Holy days of Obligation. Students in grades 2-8 are assigned a weekday Mass and the classes attend on their appointed day
at 8:00 AM.

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMS: Sacramental programs are taught in the second and eighth grades, preparing students for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Academic instructions, as well as retreats, are held to help students ready themselves for these important moments in their lives.

FAMILY LIFE SERIES: All grades receive instruction in the Family Life Program. The Family Life series presents students with the beauty and responsibility of human sexuality. Students who participate in the program come to see this special part of all of our lives with reverence and respect. This program allows students to learn about sexual life from a reliable, trusted source. Parental permission is needed for participation in the program.

OTHER DEVOTIONS are observed throughout the year Penance services are held for the students during Advent and Lent. A May Procession, featuring our First Communion class as the May Court is held each May to honor Our Blessed Mother. A Thanksgiving prayer service, an Advent Liturgical performance and a Lenten Passion play are held annually.
