Family Science Night Goes Out With A Bang

More than 200 students and parents crowded close to the 16 hands-on investigation stations of science fun. Laughing and listening, they were able to explore and discover different science concepts. Some of the stations were Making Frost & Snow, Dissecting Owl Pellets, Human Conductors of Electricity, How Many Drops of Water Fit on a Penny, and several more.
Blessed Sacrament School second-grader and pre-kindergartener Madie and Trace Ward donned gloves and examined owl pellets at one of the 16 investigation stations.
The stations included Gulfstream engineers and the mini-wind tunnel from the Mighty-Eighth Museum, as well as Skidaway Island State Park representatives, human and non-human. Dr. Will Lynch and his chemistry students from Armstrong Atlantic State University provided the “big bang” grand finale.
“Our goals are to engage students in science, to motivate students to experience their world, and to have fun with our families while they learn,” said Kelli Whitney, BSS Science Lab Specialist.
“Our partners at Gulfstream, Skidaway Island State Park, and Armstrong Atlantic State University add so much this event, and the students were very much looking forward to engaging with the experts in aerospace, wildlife management and chemistry,” Whitney said. “These partnerships excite students about the sciences! That is what this night is all about.”

A magical winter wonderland awaits parents and children as they are invited to explore the magic of Blessed Sacrament.  Join the fun, explore the school, sample the expectations of early childhood education, and fill out application forms now for next year.

The event will take place at the school campus, located at 1003 East Victory Drive (at Waters Avenue).

Space is very limited. Interested participants are asked to RSVP by calling the school office at 356-6987.
